There was a full evening of cricket in the Leslies Motors Indoor League last Sunday with wins in Div 1 for both Brading and Ryde 1, and Cowes, Ryde 2 and Shanklin &Godshill 2 also claiming the points in Div 2.

Ryde 1 continued their dominant form in the top division with a resounding victory against Island Bakeries. 30 from Dave Pratt and 39 not out from Simon Wratten helped push Ryde 1 to 141-4 (Sam Richards 2-32) and a comfortable win was secured as tight bowling from Ash Goldsmith (2-7) restricted Bakieries to just 59-5.Div 1 also saw Brading (121-5) get their first win of the campaign with a narrow 13 run triumph over Shanklin &Godshill 1(108-2). Mark Hartnell’s 27 and Steve Wright with 25 not out set up theBrading total that Shanklin &Godshill 1 could not overcome despite not out scores from Seb Egerton-Read (26) and Peter Wright (25).

In Div 2, not out scores from Cowes’ openers Josh Rice (25) and Justin Pinder (27) helped their side to 136-1 against the Cricket Board’s Disability Team. The Disability Team made sure that Cowes had to bowl all their overs but finished short on 79-5, Scott Rice taking 2-9. Shanklin &Godshill 2 remain undefeated following a 3 wicket victory against Northwood 2. Jeff Barrett with 36 not out top scored for Northwood 2 in their total of 110-5 but it was never enough as Ray Winter (29 not out) made sure his side got home despite 2-32 from Ben Baker. Ryde 2’s 132-4 (Guy Bonnett 33, Liam Ringer 35 not out) proved too much for Newport whosereplyfell short by 32 runs (Mike Watson 26).
