Leslies Indoor League Under Way

5 matches took place in the first week of the Leslies Motors Indoor League at Cowes Enterprise College last Sunday.
In Div 1 it was EPP who got the first points on the board with a convincing win over Shanklin &Godshill 1. Batting first, Shanklin &Godshill 1 scored 124-1 (Steve Egerton-Read 25 not out) but Henry Edwards (26) and Ross Whyte (28) both hit not out scores to seeEPP home. Good undefeated knocks from Brading’s experienced batting trio of Alan Johns (26), Chris Higgins (29) and Rob Holdcroft (27) saw their side amass 131-1 against Northwood whose reply fell short on 110-2 (Jordan Langdon 26 not out). The remaining Div 1 game saw title holders Ryde hit the biggest score of the evening (158 all out) against Prison Officers. Despite 2 wickets each for the Officer’s Chris Earley and Gary Kimber, Simon Wratten (29) and Liam Ringer (32) helped Ryde post a challenging total.Earley (33 not out) put up stubborn resistance but Mark Oatley’s 3-17 took Ryde to a comfortable 81 run win.
There were also 2 games played in Div 2. Ryde School (121-1) beat Shanklin &Godshill 2 (119-5) mainly thanks to Fred Gurney (26 not out) and Ben Attrill (3-19). Newport’s Paul Attrill hit an undefeated 26 to help his side to 121-3 against Island Bakeries. The total was overtaken by The Bakers who did not lose any wickets in reply (Ellis Ridett 26, Matt Webb 27).
