NEW YEAR UMPIRE & SCORING COURSES

The Isle of Wight Association of Officials (IW ACO) are looking to run three courses in the New Year after the successful introduction courses that were run in October.

The following course are being run

Club Scorer - How to record a Cricket Match.

The course for anyone wanting scoring on a regular basis and is the only one to comprehensively teach you how to score. This course is suitable for complete beginners and existing scorers who want to fine tune their skills.

The aim of this four week evening course is to cover all of the Laws of Cricket necessary to accurately engender skills and knowledge to record a cricket match. Participants are expected to complete work between each of the four evening sessions, forming an essential part of the coursework. The venue will be confirmed when total numbers are confirmed.

It's Your Call Umpire Education - Stage One

This course is designed to give you an overview of the basic Laws of the game and how to apply them and introduce the principles of field craft and match management. It will give you the tools to enable you to umpire matches at the basic recreational level where there are no independent umpires appointed.

Once you have completed the course, we recommend that you refresh your understanding of the Laws covered and study them more thoroughly by referring to the MCC on-line Laws resource.

Please bring your own lunch, however hot drinks can be provided.

Introduction to Umpiring

This short stand-alone course will give any cricket enthusiast curious about becoming an umpire a taste of what the role entails, and outlines what lies ahead if you would like to pursue your interest.

The aim of this course is to provide the basic skills and knowledge to umpire a cricket match. It will not teach you everything you need to know, but it will give you the tools and confidence to get started, with a good base for the Level 1 course that is planned for February 2020.
