Wednesday, February 22: Well-known Island historian, Derek Sprake, will be giving a fascinating talk on Isle of Wight carriers. Ever wondered how goods were transported around the Island – especially from village to village – in the 19th and early 20th centuries? Well Derek will be telling us all about the characters involved. Admission is £5 and though hot food will be available, it has been decided to make this optional.
Wednesday, March 7: Paul Martin will be holding one of his ever-popular race nights. You don’t have to have a knowledge of horses or even betting to enjoy yourself at these events – and entry is free!
Wednesday, March 21: Our final presentation of the winter season will feature County Press columnist, Keith Newbery, who will be giving a talk entitled ‘Do You Know the Queen’s English?’ Don’t worry, it’s not a boring lecture on the mother tongue but an amusing look at some of the anomalies and absurdities facing anyone trying to understand the most commonly-used and confusing language on the planet. Once again admission will be £5 and hot food will be available.
Tickets must be ordered in advance from Ken and Jackie Hamblin. Please ring 524267 or email email@example.com
