Ryde 1 have repeated last year’s feat by adding the Leslies Motors Division 1 league title to their earlier cup triumph as they maintain their domination of indoor cricket.

With two games still to play, Ryde 1, who have lost just one game over the past 2 seasons, have an unassailable lead following a comfortable 73 run win over bottom side Island Bakeries last Sunday. Ryde’s Dave Pratt (25), Mark Oatley (41) and Josh Proctor (27) were all not out as they helped their side to 152-2. Kieran Annis hit 35 for the Bakers in reply but their total of 79 never threatened to stop Ryde from taking the points. Ryde’s closest challengers, EPP, fell to their second defeat as they were beaten by Brading by 21 runs. Brading’s Alan Johns top score with 25 not out in his side’s 119-3 but it was Chris Higgins who bowled superbly to grab 3-18 who made sure EPP were bowled out for just 98 (Ali Wheble 29). The other game in Division 1 saw Northwood 1 force 6 run outs torestrict Shanklin &Godshill 1 to 103 despite a good start from the Egerton-Read brothers (Seb 28, Steve 26).Northwood 1 took no time to chase this down as Callum Witham hit 30 not out for a 6 wicket win and take his side into second place.

Ryde 2 are close to making it a double for their club as their win over Ryde School means a victory in their final game of the season in two week’s time will give them the title. Batting first, the School scored 97-4 (Charlie Bligh 30 not out) but Ryde 2 chased this down  for the loss of just 1 wicket mainly thanks to Guy Bonnett who top scored with 28 not out. Cowes remain the closest challengers after they overcame Prison Officers by 76 runs. Josh Rice (38 not out) and Jack Summers (25 not out) helped Cowes to score 128-3. Steve Sprake took 3-30 but this was matched by the Cowes bowlers who all bowled tightly and held the Officers to just 52 all out.
