Ryde U12s clinched the league after beating Ventnor in a tense final league game at Rew Valley on the 14th March.

Ryde batted first and their top order of Ian Hailes (4) and Jacob Palin (1)  were kept in check by  Thomas Southcott (1-22) and Sam Mills (3-19) opening spells. First change Oliver Cheeseman (3-26) bowled Kensei Parker for 6 and had Xavier Meadows caught by Mills for 13. Preston Draper-Oakley came to Ryde's rescue and top scored for with 22no and was well supported by Harry Everard until he was bowled by Mills for 14. Ryde finally set Ventnor 99 to win the game from their 12 Overs.

Ventnor started their reply with Thomas Southcott and Sam Mills at the crease, runs were coming easily early on until Southcott was bowled by Parker (2-9) for 9. Once Mills had retired after hitting a quick fire 25 the run rate slowed and Ryde’s bowlers managed to get lots of dot balls onto the scorecard. Oliver Cheeseman reached 25 and retired, but Nathaniel Wells was bowled by Meadows (1-13) without scoring. Alfie Toulson was looking like being the match winner until he was bowled by Parker for 24. Mills returned to the crease hitting back to back boundaries and looking to get Ventnor across the line, until Davidson (1-33) took a magnificent caught and bowled from the second to last ball as Mills was looking for the back wall once again. Five runs were required from Davidson’s last ball, but Cheeseman could only manage 3 which gave Ryde a two run victory and the U12 Indoor League title for 2020.
