Div 1 of the Indoor Cricket League saw a last ball win for EPP against bottom side, Newport last Sunday. Newport, without a league win this season, came agonizingly close until Ben Attrill (46 not out) smashed 6 off the final ball to keep EPP at the top of the table. Nat Ridett had earlier scored 53 for Newport and then took 2 wickets but couldn’t prevent EPP chasing down 123 for the narrowest of wins (Ben White 26 not out).

Ryde stay in second spot following a big 105 run win over Brading. Ryde’s 210-3 was the highest score of the season so far mainly thanks to not out innings from Mark Oatley (48) and Simon Wratten (26). Brading, who also conceded 60 extras, were dismissed for 105 in reply (Mark Hartnell 29) with Geoff Kite taking 2 wickets.

Ventnor are also in the hunt after they eased to a 6 wicket victory over Shanklin. After restricting Shanklin to 109-2 (Nathan Moore 25 not out, Calvin Wright 27 not out), Ventnor wasted no time in chasing down their target in just 8 overs with 27 not out from both Neil Westhorpe and Chris Russell.

In Div 2, Godshill have opened up a 27 point lead at the top following a 31 run win over previously unbeaten Ryde Cavaliers. Not out scores from Seb (28) and Steve (29) Egerton-Read, together with an unbeaten 37 from Ray Winter saw Godshill (154-3) set a challenging target. Cavaliers could only muster 123-5 in reply (Joe Butcher 35) with 2 wickets apiece for Mackenzie Wright and Phil Mew.

The remaining game in Div 2 saw a narrow 13 run win for Northwood 2nds (150-5) over Prison Officers (137-3). Callum Witham led the way for Northwood scoring 36 and then taking 2 wickets to restrict the Officers’ reply despite good not out knocks from Chris Earley (25), Gary Kimber (35) and Matt Dilnot (33).

Although Godshill lead the way, a chasing pack of 6 sides are separated by just 11 points meaning there is still everything to play for.
