The Islands U11 team traveled to leafy Esher Cricket Club to take on Surrey’s U10s. Surrey won the toss and chose to bat first which looked like a good decision as the openers J.Kher (29) and C.Whipple (28) put on 58 for the first wicket.

Then the bowlers from the island started to get their lines and lengths right and troubled the Surrey batters on a regular basis with Rory Buckeridge (3-26) being well supported by Harry Stead (2-32) and Charlie Bligh (2-19).

Surrey were finally all out for 181, thanks to some contributions from the lower order (D.Geddes, 25 and B.Cleaver, 25).

The Islands reply took an early knock when Charlie Bligh was bowled by Winter (3-26) for 0 but George Griffith (38) steadied the ship along with Theo Dalloz (13).

But it was a fine knock by man of the match Rory Buckeridge for 66 not out, which included 10 boundaries that saw the Island reach their target of 182 to record a 5 wicket victory (12 a side).
