The Division 1 crown in the Leslies Motors Indoor Cricket League is within EPP’s grasp after opening up a 47 point lead followingtheir defeat of Northwood at Cowes Enterprise College last Sunday.

Northwood’s in form batting pair of Callum Witham (27 not out) and Liam Roberts (28 not out) helped their side to a competitive 121-3 but the Cricket Board’s EPP side made sure theykept up their unbeaten record by reaching this target for the loss of only 1 wicket with not out scores for Ben Attrill (25), Dan Cox (30) and Zeph Wells (28). Last year’s league winners, Ryde, still have a slim chance of challenging for the title after they easily overcame Shanklin &Godshill 1 by 76 runs. The Westhill side did well to restrict Ryde to 128-2 (Dave Pratt 27 not out, Simon Wratten 30 not out) but Will Mew (3-15) tore through the Shanklin &Godshill 1 batting as they could only manage 52 in reply. Bradinghad a walk over win against Prison Officers who were unable to raise a side. Ryde will need an unlikely sequence of results to prevent EPP from claiming the title as they need to win their remaining 4 games whilst hoping EPP slip up in both of theirs.

Once again, there are new leaders in Division 2 after Ryde School beat Newport by 56 runs to re-take top spot. The Ryde School total of 148-5 was dominated by skipper, Ben Attrill, who smashed an undefeated 79. Despite 31 from Guy Wells, Newport were skittled out for 92. The destination of the Div 2 title will become a lot clearer next Sunday when the Scholars take on second placed Island Bakeries. The other Div 2 game saw Shanklin & Godshill 2 score 129-1 (Dale Walker 27 not out, Peter Wright 25 not out) to help defeat the Cricket Board Disability Team by 75 runs with Mackenzie Wright taking 2-9.
