The Cricket Board’s EmergingPlayers (EPP) gained revenge for their recent narrow cup semi-final defeat at the hands of Ryde by beating their rivals with a 3 wicket win in last Sunday’s top of the table Leslies Motors Indoor League Div 1 clash at Cowes Enterprise College.

EPP bowled out title holders Ryde for just 86 with only Mark Oatley’s 31 putting up any resistance. EPP’s Freddie Gurney took 2-23 before his team mate Ben Attrill hit an unbeaten 25 to see EPP over the line and remain undefeated.

The other Div 1 match resulted in a 13 run win for Shanklin &Godshill 1 against Northwood. Despite conceding just 14 extras, Northwood couldn’t prevent Shanklin &Godshill’sSeb Egerton-Read (48) and Rob Moore (37) both hitting unbeaten scores to take their team to 133-4. In reply, Steve Egerton-Read took 2-14 as Northwood fell just short on 120-3 with Liam Roberts hitting their top score of 25 not out.

EPP lead the Div 1 table after 3 wins from 3 matches but will be put to the test next Sunday when they take on Brading who are also undefeated this term.

Ryde School remain at the top of Div 2 following their 67 run win against the IW Disability Team. Not out knocks from Will Mew (29) and Ben Attrill (28) took the School to 166-4 but the Disability Team were determined not to be beaten easily as team manager, Neil Westhorpe with 25 not out, and Becky Jude with her top score of 20 made sure undefeated Ryde School had to bowl all their overs before confirming their victory.

Also undefeated are Island Bakeries who beat Shanklin &Godshill 2 by 3 wickets. Only Seb Egerton-Read (25) was able to get to grips with the Bakers bowling (2 wickets each for Kieron Annis and Matt Webb) as Shanklin &Godshill posted 108-6. Webb then top scored with 34 not out as he and Tom Marriott (25 not out) saw their side home.

Cowes (106-3) gained their first win of the campaign with a narrow 12 run victory over Newport (94-6). Jack Summers starred with both bat and ball for Cowes. His undefeated 25 was followed by taking 2 wickets which made sure Mike Watson’s stubborn 47 for Newport was not enough.

The fixtures for next Sunday (25th) at Cowes Enterprise College:

Div 1: Northwood v Ryde (5pm), Prison Officers v Shanklin &Godshill 1 (6pm), EPP v Brading (8pm).

Div 2: Newport v IW Disability Team (7pm), Cowes v Island Bakeries (9pm).
