Ventnor's Marcus Horton last night thumped a hard hitting unbeaten 50 against local rivals Shanklin, to help steer his side into the final of the IW Under 15 Cup. Horton was well supported by Jadon Buckeridge (32) and Ben Herridge (49 not out), as Ventnor amassed 179 for 3 in their semi-final at Steephill. Calvin Wright was the pick of the Shanklin bowlers, with tidy figures of 1-17 from his 4 overs. In reply, Shanklin slipped to 61 all out, with just Sam Davis (12) and Ryan Hall (10 not out) managing to reach double figures. Harry Ridley with 2-11 from 3 overs did the early damage, whilst Cameron Bartlett (2-12) and John Buckman (2-2) also picked up a brace of wickets each later on.

The other semi-final will take place next week between Northwood and Ryde. Northwood were handed their semi-final place by Newport, who failed to raise a side, whilst Ryde last week beat Ryde Cavaliers by 50 runs, thanks mainly to an unbeaten maiden fifty by Will Vaughan, and a first ever hat-trick by opening bowler Akshay Singh, who ripped through Cavaliers top order to finish with figures of 4-4.

Due to fixture delays, the Under 15 Cup Final has now been moved to Friday July 5th, with a 6pm start at Newclose. The Under 13 Mal Sketchley Memorial Cup Final has also been moved to Tuesday June 25th, again at Newclose with a 6pm start. It will be contested between Ventnor and Ryde.
