Ventnor's Jake George, 17, just pipped Bournemouth's Michael Porter (665 runs) to win the John Millett Memorial Trophy, awarded to the Southern Electric Premier League 'Young Cricketer of the Year.'
The Portsmouth Grammar School sixth former, who helped Hampshire YCs win the ECB 50-over Cup this season, scored 667 Premier League runs for the Hampshire Academy, including a career-best 154 against Bashley (Rydal) and an unbeaten 141 against Andover. His innings against Bashley featured in what was a near record 285-run opening partnership with PGS teammate Robert Gibson (123).
