There were nail biting finishes at the top of both Division 1 and Division 2 of the Leslies Motors Indoor Cricket League last Sunday. Ryde 1 confirmed their place as favourites for the top title following a dramatic tie against nearest challengers EPP. Thanks to big hitting at the end of their innings from Liam Ringer, 25 not out and Stuart Robertson, 27 not out, Ryde were able to score 135-2. EPP fought all the way as Zeph Wells with 49 not out and 25 from Dan Cox meanttheir EPP side needed 5 runs off the last 2 balls to secure victory. Robertson held his nerve to take the vital wicket of Cox and then concede just 4 off the last ball as the game ended in a tie. The result leaves Ryde 31 points ahead with just 3 games remaining.

The other game in Division 1 saw a comfortable win for Shanklin &Godshill 1 over bottom side Island Bakeries. Tony Cook top scored for the Bakers in their score of 134-4 but not outs from Seb Egerton-Read (26), Steve Egerton-Read (27) and Ray Winter (25) took the Westhill side home for a 6 wicket triumph.

There was also a thrilling finish to the top of the table battle in Division 2 between Ryde 2 and Cowes. Good bowling from James Williams (3-24) meant Cowes could only reach 108-5, a score dominated by Josh Rice (43 not out). In reply Ryde also struggled against a tight Cowes attack and got home off the last ball thanks to 33 not out from both Simon Wratten and Tom Roscoe. Ryde now lead the table by 13 points with 2 games to play.

An excellent bowling performance by Ventnor gave them the points against Northwood 2. Ventnor could only score 96 but tight bowling from Toby Noyes, who conceded just 10 runs from his 3 overs, kept Northwood 2 to just 84-4 in reply (Dave Cooper 34). The remaining game in Division 2 saw the points awarded to Newport as Ryde School were unable to raise a side.
