The Isle of Wight Under 13 Cup, which since 2013 has been known as the Mal Sketchley Memorial Cup, has been won by Ryde for the second time in three years. A good sized crowd gathered at Newclose on Friday evening, to watch last season's beaten finalists, Ryde Cavaliers, take on the 2013 winners, Ryde.

It was Cavaliers who batted first, and in the very first over, a well taken catch by Ryde wicket keeper George Griffith off the bowling of Ben Shaw gave Ryde the early advantage. Ryde kept this advantage all the way through the Cavaliers innings, with some very tight bowling and some excellent ground fielding.Theo Dalloz (2-12) and Rory Buckeridge (2-22) were the pick of the Ryde bowlers, with only the brother and sister act of Peter (31 retired) and Mackenzie Wright (17) able to get any sort of momentum going for Cavs. The innings closed at 104-8 from the allotted 20 overs, which on a good Newclose wicket, was always going to be hard to defend.

Ryde's opening pair of Rory Buckeridge (32 retired) and Ollie Lovell (31 retired) batted patiently and sensibly as they set about the run chase, and when Buckeridge retired, Shaw came to the crease to hit a quick fire 28 not out, and see Ryde home with 4 overs to spare.

Man of the Match awards were presented by Stuart Chatfield from the IW Cricket Board to Rory Buckeridge and Peter Wright, and Ryde now go on to represent the Island in the first round of the ECB National Cup, where they will take on the Sussex winners, Preston Nomads.
