15 Oct 2012 Last season's league champions, Newport, started off their indoor campaign by knocking current holders, Niton, out of the Harwoods Renault Indoor Cup in the first round. Niton were bowled out for just 65 as only two batsmen reached double figures. Despite two early wickets, Tom Dye (29*) and Nat Riddett (17*) saw Newport home in the seventh over with four wickets remaining. Last season's runners-up, Ryde, are safely through however after thrashing Whitecroft by 152 runs. Ryde posted a massive 183-3, with Julion Jayerajah top-scoring with 34. Lawrence Tolfrey (26*), Rob Hobbs (25*) and Jordan Galsworthy (25) also batted well in a fine win for Ryde. Mark Oatley then took 3-4 as Whitecroft were bowled out for just 31. Ryde 2nds are also into the quarter-finals following their comfortable four-wicket win over the IW Health Associates. Dave and Jadon Buckeridge shared four wickets for Ryde II as they bowled the Health Associates out for only 68. In reply, Jadon hit 22* and was aided by Tom Roscoe (19*) as they passed the total in the fifth over for the loss of two wickets.

Ventnor also enjoyed a one-sided match as they beat Shanklin by six wickets. Matt Lambourne (16) was the only Shanklin batsman to hit double figures but couldn't stop his side from being bowled out for 57, all four Ventnor bowlers taking one wicket each. George Hatt made sure of a victory for his side with 25*, Ventnor winning in the sixth over without losing a wicket. Northwood were also winners, but this time in a much closer match against Godshill. Ray Winter top-scored with a fine knock of 46* for Godshill, who posted 110-5. After a slow start, Northwood were able to take advantage of some wayward bowling and passed the target with three balls to spare, Gavin Paddock hitting 27* and Ashley Goldsmith 23*. In the other match of the night, Ryde Cavaliers beat GKN II by 4 wickets. Martyn Richards top-scored for GKN II with 17 as they made 124-5, but were restricted thanks to 2-27 from Andy Loudon. Chris Higgins then smashed 40* and was helped by Graham Gregory (25*) as Ryde Cavaliers passed the total with two overs remaining. GKN and Island Bakeries were awarded their matches after Ryde Cavaliers II and IW Prison Officers were unable to raise sides.
