Hampshire Cricket have decided against taking a Royal London One-Day Cup fixture to the Isle of Wight in 2015.

Hampshire’s 50-over match against Lancashire on Monday 17 August was earmarked as a potential fixture for Newclose Cricket Ground, on the Isle of Wight to be hosted in memory of the late Brian Gardener, founder and owner of Newclose.

However after a recent logistical check and further internal discussions, the Club have made the decision to continue working with representatives of Newclose with intention of hosting a Hampshire match on the Isle of Wight in the future.

The Ageas Bowl Commercial Director, Stuart Robertson said: “Moving a fixture involves a large number of complex arrangements to be perfectly aligned and although we have made good progress in that regard, we haven’t managed to tick every box for this season. I’d like to thank the team at Newclose for their on-going support and it does remain our firm intention to bring a Hampshire fixture to Newclose on the Isle of Wight in the near future.”

The Hampshire Second XI have three fixtures at Newclose, Isle of Wight in 2015. The first is against the Elite International Cricket Academy (10 & 11 June) before two matches versus the MCC Young Cricketers during the same week in July.
