After winning the toss, Northwood started positively through openers, Ben Duggan and Joshua Procter, and had 33 on the board after five overs. However, Procter was dismissed for 23 by Harry Wratten in the sixth over for Ryde’s first wicket. Wratten finished with 1-8 in his excellent four over spell, which included two maidens.

Duggan and Harry Collier hit a 51-run partnership, before the latter was well caught for 26 in the deep by Ronnie Cranfield off the bowling of Jeramy Jayerajah. Cranfield then took his second catch as he dismissed Niall Casson for just 2 off the bowling of Ben Baker.

Greg Forbes followed with a run out of Northwood’s Ben Baker to leave Northwood 109-4. Good, tight bowling from Ryde restricted Northwood as they were unable to increase the run rate in the final few overs and they finished on 126-4, Ben Duggan the standout performer, batting the whole innings for 46 not out.

Ryde began well in their chase, with 13 coming from the first two overs, but when Collier bowled Cranfield for 0, the game started to swing Northwood's way. Duggan then bowled Forbes for 2 to leave Ryde 18-2 off 6.

However, Ben Baker and Calvin Dickinson started to build a partnership and both batted confidently. The third wicket finally came in the 14th over, when Baker was bowled by Sam Metcalf for a well-made 32. Ryde tried to push towards a victory, but as runs started to come so did the wickets. Casson took the fourth wicket, before Calvin Dickinson had to retire on 50, a brilliant innings off 37 balls.

Collier took his second of the day before an excellent run out from Callum Witham ended any hopes of a Ryde win. Collier finished with figures of 2-15 and Duggan took 1-9 from his four overs. Ryde ended on 107-6, Northwood ending with a 19 run victory after a fantastic game of cricket from both sides.

Ben Duggan was awarded man of the match for Northwood, with Calvin Dickinson taking the award for Ryde. Northwood go through to play the Hampshire winners on Sunday 22nd July.
