8 Dec 2013 Ryde became the new champions of the Isle of Wight Indoor League on Sunday evening after beating cup winners, East Cowes, by two wickets. East Cowes got off to a good start, with Mark Hartnell making 44* and Alan Johns 28*. 2-19 from Josh Procter helped to bring Ryde back into the game though, and East Cowes finished on 152-4. In reply, Ryde were positive throughout and found themselves 137-2 with two overs remaining, Tom Roscoe and Ben Wadmore both making 33. Chris Parsons then took 2-38 to give East Cowes some hope, but John Zaccardi (31*) smashed a six with the third ball of the final over to secure the victory, and the league, for Ryde. Niton are now pushing for a second-placed finish after beating Shanklin by six wickets. Guy Wells returned figures of 3-24 and Ben Fooks took 2-28 as Niton restricted Shanklin to 110-5, Harry Bradley top-scoring with 28. It took nine overs for Niton to chase down their target, Joby Wells and Tom Doble both making 29* as Niton won without losing a wicket. Northwood took the points against Ryde II, but they came in bizarre circumstances. Simon Wratten hit 43 as Ryde II were bowled out for 112, Mark Tuckwell (3-26) and Gavin Paddock (2-35) doing the damage for Northwood. In reply, Northwood were 44-1 from 4.2 overs before Ryde II conceded and gave the match to Northwood.

In Division 2, Island Bakeries kept up their quest for the title with a six-wicket win over Newport II. Stuart Gurney top-scored with 36* as Newport II posted 136-3, Dan Hayward chipping in with 25*. It was an impressive chase from Island Bakeries, who needed just 10.2 overs to reach their target, Tony Cook (26*), Ellis Ridett (25*), Matt Webb (25*) and Sam Richards (24*) all punishing the Newport II bowlers who failed to take a wicket. Ryde Cavaliers II were too strong for East Cowes II, beating them by 60 runs. Ryde Cavaliers II made 138 in their innings, Harry Roberts scoring 40, John Jones taking 3-27. East Cowes II struggled with the bat though and could only muster 78 despite a number of extras from the Cavaliers bowlers. Godshill were also winners as they beat IW Health Associates by 19 runs. Godshill posted 131-4 from their 12 overs, which was just enough, IW Health Associates ending on 112-4.
