The Under 12 Indoor Cup Final saw the top two in the league battle it out for cup glory. Both won through to the final earlier in the evening as Newport (A Singh 41no) past a battling Ventnor (S Mills 58no) by 2 runs. The other semi-final was a low scoring game between Shanklin and Ryde, which Ryde won by 2 wickets.
Ryde batted first in the final with Reuben Cobb (25) and Harry Takel (27) developing a strong platform for Ryde to go on to put on a big score as both retired. Newport fought back and really slowed the scoring rate with some tight bowling and great fielding. In the end the pressure to put runs on the board took its toll as Newport took 3 quick wickets towards the end and restricted Ryde to 103 for 3.
Newport started their run chase in a strong fashion as Aaron Singh started in determined mood and reach 25 quick with some good running between the wickets with partner Max Poynter. Poynter was bowled by Nathan day for 9 which brought Alex Hughes to the crease whose speed between the wickets led to some excitable fielding and Ryde giving away runs through over throws and miss-fields. Luke Jones and Hughes took their time to hit the winning runs as Ryde gained the composure and bowled excellent lengths and lines but eventually Newport reached their total and won by 5 wickets.
