The Leslies Motors Indoor Cricket League really hots up on Sunday (26 Jan) when the top sides in both divisions go head to head in games that will go a long way to deciding who will come out on top at the end of the season.

In Div 1 current leaders Ryde 1 take on nearest challengers EPP whilst Div 2 sees the two unbeaten sides Ryde 2 and Cowes battle it out to see who will threaten Ryde School’s narrow lead at the top.

Last Sunday saw wins for Shanklin &Godshill 1 and Northwood 1 in Div 1.Shanklin &Godshill 1’s batting was far too strong for Brading as not out scores from Ben White (27), Steve Egerton-Read (27), Seb Egerton-Read (28) and Ray Winter (25) helped the Westhill side chase down Brading’s 118-4 (Alan Johns 33 not out). Island Bakeries (65 all out) remain winless as they were easily beaten by Northwood 1 (124-4) that saw Jon Butt top scoring (34 not out).

In Div 2, Ryde 2 hit a commanding 178-2 against the Cricket Board Disability Team dominated by not outs from Tom Roscoe (51), Guy Bonnett (32), Geoff Kite (26) and Mark Tuckwell (25). In reply the Disability Team were restricted to 60 all out. Newport (155-2) picked up their second win of the season by narrowly defeating Northwood 2 (145-5) by 10 runs. The leading scorers were Mike Watson 26 not out and Guy Wells 27 not out for Newport and Jeff Barrett 35 and Liam Roberts 34 not out for Northwood 2. Ben White 31 and Steve Egerton-Read 53 not out led the way for Shanklin &Godshill 2 (139-5) as theytook the points against Prison Officers (106-4). The Officers’ Steve Sprake took 3-27 and his team mate Tom Roscoe hit 41 not out but it was not enough to prevent their side falling to a33 run defeat.
