The IWCB U17s finished their competition season off on a high with one day victory over Dorset at Ventnor Cricket Club. It was a great turn around after a heavy defeat by an inning in the two day fixture.

Looking to be positive captain Toby Corbin selected to bat first after winning the toss. Corbin and his opening partner Ben Duggan gave the island a stead start until he was removed for 15 by Dorset's Caldwell.

Duggan was joined by Jadon Buckeridge who was back in the team after representing Hampshire. Buckeridge look like he was settling into the game until he was caught for 21 of the bowling of Head.

Josh Proctor joined Duggan in the middle and looked to be positive from the start building a match winning partnership with Duggan who was stumped just after reaching his half century.

The only real support toward the end for Proctor who finished with a Man of the Match winning score of 54 was from George Niemiec (21*) and Stuart Robertson (19) who both chipped in with good knocks to get the Island to a final 215 for 9 from their 50 overs.

Dorset reply was restricted from the start with no batsman really looking comfortable with Head top scoring with 30.

That was down to a a great open spell from Matt Webb (1-15) who was well supported by the rest of the bowling line up as Corbin (2-35), Buckeridge (2-44) , Horton (2-22) and Jayerajah (2-20) all finished with a couple of wickets to their names and helped bowl out Dorset for 170 and secure a 45 run victory.
