2 Jun 2015 The quarter finals of the IW Under 15 cup were held on Monday, with Ryde, Northwood and Ryde Cavaliers all triumphing. Defending champions Ventnor could only muster nine players for their visit to Ryde, and Ryde's total of 129 for 3 proved to be far too many for the young Ventnor side that included nine year old, Will Mew. Ryde's Ben Shaw hit a chance less 49 not out, supported very ably by twelve year old Tom Lovell, who batted for 19 overs for a patient 31. Zach Wells was the pick of the Ventnor bowlers, taking 2 for 16, with Mew also bowling incredibly well but without reward. In reply, Ventnor were bowled out for just 42, with Jajeevan Sriskandarajah taking a hat trick with his leg spin, and finishing with figures of 3 for 4.

Northwood's win over Newport was a much closer affair, with the Cowes side winning by just three runs. Northwood posted a total of 109-1 from their allotted twenty overs, with opening batsmen, James Whitewood (36 not out) and George Sprack (33) contributing most of the runs. In reply, Newport reached 106 for the loss of 7 wickets, with opener Caleb Charlesworth top scoring on 16. Jason Gane (3-20) and Whitewood with 2-14 did most of the damage for Northwood.

Ryde Cavaliers cruised to a 66 run win over Porchfield Bakeries, with Joe Butcher hitting 50 before having to retire. Ollie Niemiec and Flynn Powell both chipped in with 24 each as Cavs finished on 154-3. In reply, Jack Lees and Jack Oliver both hit 20 runs each, but some tight bowling, particularly from Jack Millward (2-9 from 4 overs) and Mackenzie Wright (2-13) restricted Porchfield Bakeries to 88-6.

Ryde will now play Northwood and Ryde Cavaliers will play Shanklin (who had a bye) on finals day at Newclose on June 21st. The winners of the final will go into the last 16 of the South & West of England regional competition, where they will play the Hampshire cup winners.
